Prayer concerns that have been entrusted to us:

In order to keep prayer concerns current, all submitted prayer concerns will be dated and posted for 2 weeks unless:

1. the person who submitted the concern updates the concern or requests its removal; or

2. the person who submitted the concern requests during those two weeks that the time be extended another two weeks.

  • death of Mrs. Faira Barker Rogers of Black Mountain.  She was the widow of the Reverend Furman J. Rogers.  She is survived by a son, Furman (Gladys); daughter, Jacqueline (Roger) Rio; nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. 

  • Christian sympathy is extended to Arval Rushing, in the death of his mother, Julia Melissa Rushing Clontz, on Wednesday, June 9.  Funeral services were held at Antioch Baptist Church in Monroe on Saturday.  Thank you for your prayers for Arval, Willie, and their family.

  • Please pray for Fred Hill as he undergoes chemotherapy for non-Hodgkins lymphoma. 

  • Please pray, too, for Neville Storey, who soon will begin radiation treatments for throat cancer.

  • Please pray for retired pastor Fred Hill, who has been diagnosed with aggressive Hodgkins lymphoma.  Fred began treatment on Friday, June 11.

  • Congratulations to Billy and Karen Towery in the birth of their daughter, Natalie Michelle Towery, on Tuesday, June 9.  Natalie weighed 7 lb. 5 oz. and was 22 inches long.  Karen and baby Natalie are doing well, as are Billy and big brother Garrett.

  • We have received word of the Sunday, June 6, 2010 death of the Reverend Collins M. Benfield (retired).  He survived by his wife, Alma; and two daughters, Mary Norbury and Jane Greenwood. 

  • Please pray for Neville Storey, who had surgery on Wednesday, May 26, at Rowan Hospital in Salisbury to remove a growth on his neck.

  • Please pray, too, for Martha Ballard’s father, Rev. Ken Johnson, who had surgery on Wednesday, May 26, in Asheville. 

  • Our prayers are also with Jacob Newman, who will have surgery on his right shoulder on Friday, May 28, at Presbyterian Hospital in Huntersville.  Jacob is the son of Brenda and Don Newman.

  • Rev. Robert Allen Foster died on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at Hospice in Winston-Salem.  He is survivedby his wife Ruth, and four daughters (Jan, Susie, Dottie, Robin).  Thank you for your prayers for the Foster Family.
